Previously on Plymouth:TheOffside…..
By: Jim | November 18th, 2008My return to work appears to have coincided with an upsurge of things to actually do, so apologies for not giving you my legions of readers as full an insight recently as you deserve. In brief:
A leg-weary Argyle were defeated 2-0 at Sheffield Utd, thanks to a James Beattie set-piece brace (pen and freekick);
Argyle failed to inspire in a bizarre 2-2 with Charlton. Having led through a Mat Doumbe header late in the first half, Argyle looked to be hanging on for the win, when Kelly Youga’s stooping header from a corner levelled things up on 86 minutes. As the board went up for added time, referee Andy Hall (who had an excellent match) rightly blew for an Addicks penalty for a tug by Fallon. Andy Gray confidently slotted home to the delight of the away support; only for Emile Mpenza to volley Argyle a point with his first touch after coming on in the 92nd minute as a desperation sub.
Former roofer and Burscough/Southport winger Craig Noone scored his first professional goal late on at the Ricoh to hand the Greens a priceless 1-0 victory over Chris Colemans talented but inconsistent Sky Blues.
And best of all……..
Marcel Seip has agreed a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2011. Having been a certainty to move on after a high-profile spat with Sturrock that culminated in him refusing to sit on the bench for *last* season’s home game with Charlton, the Dutch centre back has come back with humility, professionalism and his performances have gone from strength to strength. If they awarded Player fo the Season now he’d be a shoe-in.
Profile for the Sky game with Cardiff on Saturday coming up - stay tuned…..

You seem pretty inconsistent like the Sky Blues right now, but if you are following a pattern that can be identified from your last 3 games (LDW), let’s hope it repeats itself and the blue segment of Home Park is left celebrating come Saturday mid-afternoon!

Let’s *not hope that, Martyn.
